Mr. Kavanagh was retained as the full time Project Director for this 5 year, $20 million upgrade to the campus and facilities for Canada’s largest Catholic independent school for boys. Working closely with the Building Committee and the Board of Directors, Mr. Kavanagh developed the preliminary designs, then retained all the project consultants and provided day to day direction to ensure the work carefully considered the safety of students and minimization of disruption to school activities. The construction delivery method was a unique hybrid melding the best aspects of construction management with general contracting. He also successfully defended the SMCS against legal claims for additional fees. In addition to his duties as Project Director, Mr. Kavanagh was appointed Secretary to the Board of Directors and established the first fundraising/development office in the School’s history.
